Things start out slow but the pacing is good overall.
The combat will be really handholding fkr a bit but gradually itll be more real as time goes.
Id personally recommend the TV mode version of the story, but it is discontinued now so it might be less whiplash to go with the replacement. Enjoy the ride, Chapter 2 is peak.
