Yes. It's a bare-minimum litmus test and they have failed it miserably. Even a plain and honest excuse like 'we need this for blackmail to pursue our agenda' or 'we can't do this and need more help for reasons we can't say' would've averted this. Instead they react in the worst possible form to our demands.
