And looking back, MGSV was a scandalous 80 million. So much of a scandal that konami just up and uprooted the entire game division instead of keeping up costs.
This however, included the cost to both produce the game AND develop a new engine for the game which could be used in future titles.
...was Kojima ahead of the curve? His games seem reasonable by today's standards. MGSV came out, made money, and actually was ahead of Konami's projections. The Fox Engine was then gonna be used for Silent Hills which given the excitement and how much RE7 sold, I think it was gonna be a big hit.
I still think his games are littered with wasteful spending, but they are never in dev hell for 8-12 years like today's games.
