People always say
>Works on my machine!
With Retroarch, but I truly do not believe these people have used Retroarch often, or they're lying when they say it works flawlessly for them.

Just yesterday I booted up Retroarch to play Samurai Showdown. For some reason, my arcade stick decided to just not work on it despite me using it just the other day perfectly fine.

>boot up Retroarch to play Samurai Shodown
>arcade stick decides to not work despite working fine the other day
>Retroarch shows it as connected and configured
>as usual, P1 controller index set to N/A
>this is expected because Retroarch always does this and It's just one of many small inconveniences using Retroarch
>switch it to the right controller
>still doesn't work
>check to if it reset my button mapping
>nope, can't remap, buttons aren't registering (and they're already mapped appropriately)
>reboot Retroarch
>still doesn't work
>boot up Street Fighter 6 to check if the stick is broken
>works perfectly fine
>go back to Retroarch
>still not working
>disconnect and reconnect the stick
>still doesn't work
>switch the stick to PS4/PS5 mode and back to PC mode
>doesn't work
>switch the stick to PS4 mode
>it works
>switch back to PC mode
>It works completely fine

Fucking dogshit piece of trash program.
It can't even consistently work when you go out of your way to ensure nothing ever changes.

Meanwhile: PCSX2, which was considered a trash-tier emulator for the longest time:

>boot up PCSX2 to play Tekken 4 the other day with my current arcade stick for the first time ever
>Prior to that I hadn't even used an arcade stick on the emulator at all in 3 years
>Select my already configured arcade stick button mapping profile
>it just fucking works

Meanwhile Retroarch which I use every other day because I like old SNK and Capcom and the shader options on Retroarch are great, regularly shits the bed for no discernible reason, and troubleshooting is a pain in the fucking ass because the UI is GARBAGE
