I never dealt with Sony, but years ago Nintendo's customer service was awful for me. I bought a Persona Q 3DS and the analog slider did something where it had no pressure and just slid around by itself, despite me always babying the shit out of my stuff and not even having it long.
They tried claiming that I likely would get a different normal colored one back and there was nothing they could do about that. I even tried explaining to them that the Persona Q one was limited edition, cost more, and the only way to even buy one was through a GameStop exclusive pre-order, but she basically just told me that's too bad, because that's how they do it.
I ended up refusing service altogether and kept complaining a lot about how ridiculous it all was, saying that they were basically ripping me off by not even giving me one of equal value, and they finally agreed to just fix mine, but the whole ordeal was ridiculous.
