I'd prefer an animation as well. But my guess is Squaresoft doesn't view the pipeline as 'LiS gamers will watch the show'. They view it as 'show watchers will buy the game'. Basically what happened with Fallout where the success of the show spiked game sales a ton.
My only hope in my general cynicism is the guy who's been in the 10 year development hell of LiS live-action also turned 10 years of development hell on Sonic live-action into an adaptation that those fans genuinely ended up loving. But I dunno if he can pull off that miracle, twice.
Funnily enough, if young people end up loving live-action Chloe that's the sort of thing that might encourage Square to re-embrace in-game Chloe. Though who knows if that just ends up being a hasty remake of LiS1 to capitalize.
