I love gog and its my primary storefront but ill be honest i still mainly buy games from steam
for 2 main reasons

discs rot, cartridges also die from not being used. Consoles die disc drives fail.
even your physical media will eventually fail you just like my downloaded games and harddrives.

Never had my game taken away outside of always online game dying(also applies to consoles and physical games) and never had a harddrive die on me too

atleast they could start hosting torrents of their games to download or smth like that
