>There is a degree of truth of the chronicle's description of the conquest, but there's no reason to believe that their conquest was as bad as mass slaughters and entire villages being burnt. Especially when we can't find other agreeing sources saying the same

Jihadist terrorist chroniclers were even more gross at detailing the brutality against Spaniards during their terroristical invasion of Spain. Jihadists thought the more brutal they were, the more rewarded they were by Allah.

From another Spanish source about the life under Jihadist terrorism:
>"We suffer no distress from the destruction of our basilicas, from the disgrace and insult of our priests, from the heavy tribute that we pay every month with great anguish and hardship; death itself would be less painful if it could put an end to so many calamities, to the painful agony of a life sustained in such poverty and constraint."
-Memoriale Sanctorum, Saint Eulogius of Córdoba, IX century.

From Jiménez de Rada, bishop of Toledo, at "History of the deeds of Spain", book VIII, chapter 9
>"The Mozarabs were subjected to great trials and suffering in the time of the Almohads, since they did not allow them to practice their religion and forced them to convert to Islam. Many preferred death rather than renounce their faith, and others abandoned their lands and fled to the Christian kingdoms of the north"

From the Jihadist terrorists themselves:
Ibn Hawqal:
>"There is in al-Andalus more than one agricultural exploitation that brings together thousands of peasants who are ignorant of everything about urban life and are Europeans of Christian confession. It happens that sometimes they rebel and fortify themselves in the heights; the repression is long, because they are proud and obstinate. And when they have thrown off the yoke of obedience, it is extremely difficult to reduce them, unless they are exterminated to the last one, a long and unfortunate undertaking."
