Exactly this sentence right here, not averting your gaze from shit like this could be eye-opening in ways that make you understand the world better and act accordingly, specifically with war footage it wants to make you stay as far away as possible and not fall for any propaganda or glory-hunting bullshit, particularly nowdays when you might end up a meme on /pol/ thanks to ultra-HD drone footage. If you feel like you have enough life-experience and that you've seen enough I understand your reluctance to indulge, my "criticism" (if you can call it that) was directed at anyone that does this from the get-go, I don't think it's healthy.

No but I'm 35 years old, I can't do it anymore though luckily I've seen / read RK while I was a teen so for this one it's not an issue, though even as a kid I preferred the OVA for its seriousness.

Don't misunderstand me, I don't consider a standard good triumphs over evil story generic trash, my all time favorite anything is LOTR mind you, just that the good guys winning being the preferable outcome for most people results in more media being made, which means more slop being made.
