The serious answer is that there is an old war about what base setup is optimal that's been going since the start of the game. Normal setup is something like 2-4-3 (trading posts-factories-power plants) with all rooms in the base upgraded to max. But there's a way to have 5 factories and 2 powerplants instead, if you sacrifice a whole bunch of rooms and either brick your support units, your recruits or something else. The gains from that are really marginal and only come into play once you have a fully optimal roster of base slaves. And even then you can use them in 2-4-3
