The daily cap is 100 spots normally, but if you collect the 100th spot in an area with many spots you can finish collecting those too as long as you don't leave that area. The image shows the standard/best final area with 28 artifact spots (99 spots around the world, then 28 more to finish things in the final area), but someone figured out how to collect 6 more spots nearby as long as you don't move past a certain line (which would trigger the cap and despawn the remaining spots). That means the new best route is 133 total spots before the despawn happens.
