>“Piss off already. If you really helped Elric escape, then you’ve gone ahead and further made yourself my enemy. Are you nearby? Why don’t you let me know where you’re skulking, and I’ll come say hi in person.” You had absolutely no patience for this man and these fanciful Agarthans that he spoke of. Whether they really existed or not was none of your concern. What you did know was that this cultist was here in the present, and you wanted nothing more than to split him in two.

“A shame.” Marek echoes. “As someone blessed with the gifts of the Goddess, I’d hoped to give you one last chance to see the error of your ways. But I see now that the people of Fodlan have grown complacent in the millenia following their grand war. They have forgotten their covenant with their own Goddess. Your presence in these lands is to simply be another obstacle that Her faithful must overcome. It matters not. We no longer need you to be our champion. We have found another bearing her gifts that is willing to do what must be done.”

>“Another?” You scoff. “Did you really convince someone from Fodlan to go along with this crap? What sort of gullible fool is it?”

“Worry not. You won’t live long enough to meet them. Farewell, Tristain d’Rusalka. May the Goddess have mercy on your soul.”

Marek’s presence suddenly vanishes, and you can no longer feel the sorcerer within your mind. You look left and right, hoping to find a trace of the man so that you can go make due on your threat, but it is to no avail.

“LORD TRISTAIN, ARE YOU OKAY?” Nadia screams, her eyes remaining shut.

>“I’m fine. But I don’t think we’re going to find Elric. We’d better turn ba-”

A loud screech from above cuts you off mid-sentence, and you feel Fionn bristle beneath you. A shadow is cast over the three of you, and as you look up, you find the culprit. A giant winged vulture hovers in the sky over you. The creature sports massive wings, and you can see the gleam of its razor sharp talons from here. Its head and large beak are craned down, staring at you with venomous hate. There was no mistaking it, this thing was a Terror. So that was what Marek meant.

“WHAT WAS THAT NOISE?”

>“A Terror. It’s a good thing I brought you after all. You can knock that thing out of the sky easily with your effective magic, can’t you?”

At that moment, the vulture lets loose a torrent of fire from its mouth. Fionn ducks out of the way, avoiding the blaze, all the while Nadia screams, clutching onto you tighter.

“I-I CAN TRY? I’VE NEVER FOUGHT IN THE SKY BEFORE. M-MAYBE I CAN JUST HEAL YOU, INSTEAD?”

Could this day get any worse? Well, if there was any silver lining to this, you’d yet to have a real fight atop Fionn. Perhaps this was finally the opportunity you’d been waiting for.
