Only bad, dishonest creators are afraid of paying homages to the things they enjoy. Their main concern is "what will people think of me if they find out?". They aren't following their heart but instead try to appear something they aren't to please a crowd. From their work nobody would be able to tell who they really are as a person. Honest creators showcase their inspirations in their work, open their heart and make others see what they like because being judged is secondary to the ability to express themselves through art. People can tell who they are as a person through their creations. That is honesty. That is soul.
