Too many animals as of late
Did they ever mention how they came with the animal motif of Saber and Revice?
I know Zero-One was because he was an Ichigo homage then they decided to make every other Rider an animal too, the main 4 riders of Geats were based on mythology while the rest just were random animals due to the sheer numbers and Gotchard just came as a natural occurrence due to wanting to do both an Ichigo homage and Pokémon.
But I never understood why did Saber need a 3 book gimmick, it never felt properly planned out since most of the unused books were from the "story" category while there were less animals and myths. I always felt that the motif would have felt more cohesive if it was just Books + Swordsmen.
In Revice I know Mochizuki came up with the demon motif due to the popularity of demons in media at the time with things such as Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man. But I never understood why Revi was the only rider actually based on a mythological demon while the rest of the riders aren't and why did they have do animals too. My only theory was that having forms based on previous riders was designed from the beginning but they couldn't homage them as "demons" so they just went with animals. I also never understood the motif of any of the upgrades of any Rider from that show.
