I feel like this is probably a reference to sol flipping you off in guilty gear. It's even censored the same way, too, by replacing the middle finger with the index. I could be wrong, but komano seems to stoic and nice to flip anyone off unprovoked, so it feels more like a reference to the character he's likely based on.
