There are studied behavioral differences in fur farm mink and foxes as well. They have different brains and are far more docile and submissive than their wild counterparts. All modern fur farm foxes are descendants from a small founding population from Prince Edward’s Island, the first place to have large scale commercial success getting red foxes to breed in captivity. However, despite being domesticated, they still don’t make good house pets due to factors that can’t be bred out of them, like foxes having urine that smells so strongly it will ruin your house. The red and arctic foxes have to be kept in pens outdoors if you want one.
