The entire tournament is just a guise to have yet another CL. They don't want these teams to do anything. They want the final to be PSG vs Bayern or Madrid or whatever. The funniest thing is that the prize money disproportiantly favours UEFA teams.
You get money just for appearing in the competition, right. But UEFA teams get vastly more and it is increased even further depending on the club's reputation and shit. Which means teams like Madrid get like £35m just for showing up. Then, if you get all the way to the final AND win it, UEFA teams will net between £85m-£95m. But if you somehow lucked your way to the final as say, Inter Miami, you'd only get like £50m.
But here is the ultimate kicker... It wouldn't matter if you did. Again using Inter Miami as an example, lets say they somehow won it. They get £50m. OK, so what? They can't do anything with it because MLS has rules on spending and players and shit. But Real Madrid? They get £95m they can go buy another world class player with it. This competition is literally just a way to give big UEFA clubs more money to spend on more players to allow them to dominate more. Of course, FIFA HAD to make the prize money substantial because no UEFA club would give a fuck otherwise. But nearly £100m? That's as good as qualifying for the CL. If you already have CL, it allows you to, as I said, buy loads of players.
