Reminder that Mr. Hanky is a proxy for Jesus Christ and reference to the very real Jewish tradition of Nittelnacht which occurs on Christmas Eve, the one night of the year when Jews are forbidden from studying Torah because they believe it gives comfort to Jesus (who is boiling in vats of human excrement in hell), and are instead encouraged to spend the night drinking partying and gambling (that's where the dreidel and those chocolate gold coins fit into Hanukkah, a holiday ostensibly about a miraculous oil lamp).
