I'm not going to try and take credit for anything.
But your history is... overly simplistic.
My people - Elbe Germans called the Suebi - migrated to the northern part of the peninsula after the collapse of Rome. They formed their own kingdom - the Kingdom of the Suebi.
This was eventually consolidated into what would become the kingdom of the Visigoths.
Not all that long afterwards, after the betrayal at Toledo, Pelagius of Asturias won at the battle of Covadonga, which started the Reconquista.
My people stayed behind at the Elbe - so I am not going to try and take credit for anything.
But saying "Spaniards" is doing a great dis-service to a great many people and groups.
We are all in this whether we like it or not.
