>Where are the crowds.
I'll explain this for the Americans on here, it's kinda interesting.
At least in my lifetime (born 1992) we've always had American cable TV channels like Fox, NBC, CNN etc. We can watch NFL games easily and cross-reference how much better NFL players are compared to CFL.
Madden was always sold up here and NCAA football started being sold up here in I think 2004 (the one with Fitzgerald on the cover). Madden is how millennial kids got into football. CFL was absent in it even though NFL Europe teams were featured, and later they did a few Arena Football games for the PS2 only. EA Sports took the initiative to build a CFL game in 2012 and showed it off to the CFL themselves (basically just needing their licensing approval), but CFL front office declined because they were completely out-of-touch boomers.

Sports Bars heavily promote NFL sundays. You can walk into either Boston Pizza or 1st Rnd here and there's NFL stuff on the walls. There is basically no promotion of CFL games.
Everyone under the age of 40 here now holds an unchangeable opinion that CFL is completely irrelevant and full of nobodies. The name change killed all support here in Edmonton, other teams are dwarfed by bigger franchises (Vancouver Canucks, Toronto Maple Leafs/Blue Jays). Saskatchewan and Winnipeg are the only profitable teams.
