The joke was started when Iroha began praying when she betrayed and sent Koyo to the shadow realm during their werewolf/imposter game. It might be a buddhist thing exorcising a spirit like in JJK. And during Iroha's first 3d live she did a shrine maiden dance making her more of a shrine maiden than Miko herself.
