The Netherlands Announces €175 Million Military Support Package for Ukraine and Confirms €500 Million Investment in Ukrainian Drone Production
In response to Russia's ongoing brutal airstrikes, the Dutch Minister of Defence, Ruben Brekelmans, today announced a new military support package for Ukraine valued at approximately €175 million. This announcement reaffirms the Netherlands' commitment to bolstering Ukraine's defensive capabilities.
The new €175 million package is allocated as follows:
Drone Detection Radars: A delivery of 100 advanced radar systems designed to detect unmanned aerial vehicles.
Unmanned Ground Vehicles: Provision of specialized vehicles for the safe transport of wounded soldiers from the front lines.
Drone Capabilities: A direct investment of €80 million to procure additional drones for Ukrainian forces.
This aid is separate from, and in addition to, major contracts finalized in recent days with Ukrainian defense companies. Under this initiative, the Netherlands has committed approximately €500 million to fund the domestic production of 600,000 drones within Ukraine, providing a significant boost to the nation's industrial capacity and war effort.
"The brutal Russian airstrikes underscore the importance of our continued support to Ukraine," Minister Brekelmans stated. "With this comprehensive support, we are providing Ukraine with the necessary tools to defend itself and are investing directly in the strength of its own defense industry."
