"The working class" doesn't exist either. There are those with political aspriations and power, and those without. There are some people born into "working class" families who have aspirations and seek power, but the fact that they are workers shows they aren't political on a fundamental level. There are only 4 political classes; warrior-aristocrats, priests, merchants, and bureaucrats. Every single 'elite' in every single society since the dawn of civilization has been one of these including places like the Soviet Union (the whole state was run by communist bureaucrats from top to bottom). In the 'Liberal" west, it was an alliance of merchant and bureaucrats who overthrew the old alliance of Aristocrats and Priests (beginning with the English civil war and the French Revolution, as an example). Over the last 40 years, the university educated bureaucratic elite have slowly stripped the merchants of their power, and now our society is run almost entirely by bureaucrats, both those within the state and those nominally outside it (managers in corporate entities, etc.). Which is why over the last few decades our societies have been breaking down as the bureaucracy bloats.
"The working class" is one which is pandered to and is given power by the bureaucrats. "The middle class" used to be overwhelmingly small business owning families, who by and large don't really exist anymore. "The working class" is as fake as "the middle class". Go and look at who run unions these days, they're all university educated parasites.
