Because she never interrupts moment to moment gameplay, she's more than just a voice in your ear, and she gives a narrative explanation for making upgrades out of random junk. Her only flaw is just being milquetoast in a game with characters like Juno, Teisel, and above all Tron. Volnutt gets a pass for being the pc and a lovable idiot.
