People don't know this started in the early mid 2000's. It began with musicians wearing skinny girl pants circa 2002-2003. Dudes like the singer from Thursday, TBS, and Blindside would walk around festivals with their skin tight pants and their stage pass clipped to a carabiner on their back belt loop. By 2005-2006 every teenage kids wanted that emo-core rockstar aesthetic however we didn't have back stage passes to clip to our back belt loop so we just started clipping our keys on these things. If your keys were bulky enough you could tuck them into your back pocket with the carabiner clipped on. This was actually a cool look. I didn't leave the house without mine from 04- early 2007.
