Russia doesn't want to end anything they want to force Ukraine and NATO to its knees and discredit western forces, Ukraine wants to stretch this out as long as they can to siphon money and prevent the inevitable while praying for a miracle. Both are wrong, I want a settlement that hurts NATO but I don't want Ukraine hurt any more. Trump is hoping to accelerate a settlement, Ukraine has to surrender Crimea and Donbas.
