how up-to-date is the guides in OP

my priority is durability and lasting a long time
im basically 90% deaf with tinnitus in my right ear from shooting guns without hearing protection and my left isnt much better due to working with machinery. my new shartphone doesnt have a 3.5mm so i'm going to randomly pick one of the low tier recommendations, as long as the OP guide isnt more than 1-2 years old, but i would appreciate any insight into what is a particularly durable set.
