Everything is derived from the Lavi, despite just being an F16 with Canards that flew a handful of times.

Other canards aircrafts like Viggen, Gripen, Rafale, Eurofighter, Mirage 2000 etc also exist and contrary to the Lavi they are actually useful.
So that's why China copied the Lavi by making a completely different aircraft.
