Well we've entered an era of active anti-intellectualism as well as division, people are far too quick to rejecting worldviews and concepts they disagree with now and there's been a concerted effort to push back against the arts and science in recent years. I imagine this is a symptom of that.
But I agree, people shouldn't immediately jump someone's ass and accuse them to reading too far into things. It's led to a culture of disgusting morons who sneer at any attempted genuine introspection and conversation but also are too stupid to actually do anything of note beyond that. They're too dumb to learn, too angry to admit their wrong, and too cowardly to at least have balls and really fuck with people. In short they lack conviction in every aspect of their life.
