I'm not sure it'll do that, but I do think it will destroy culture and make NPCs even less capable of thinking for themselves.

There's basically no upside because AI isn't that great at anything it does. It just easily produces so much output at a minimally acceptable quality that inevitably stupid, lazy, and unambitious people love it.
