I won't lie to you, exploring Ochkanatlan for the first time as Chasca is peak fun and peak sovl; a strictly superior experience than just using the Qucusaurs.
But if it's any consolation, most people skipped and didn't get to experience it either, so your circumstances are pretty much the norm. I'd still recommend getting her on a rerun though, especially since they're going to continuously update the Mare Javari well into 6.X, meaning you'll still be able to have plenty of fun with her.
