If killing Bayonetta was the issue, they just should've done it in a less gory way, like have Dante stab her in the heart with Yamato, kiss her goodbye, and carry her naked corpse away from the collapsing building. It would've been a nice reference to multiple DMC games. Although I still think Bayonetta should've won due to having actual feats and lore.
