You're right but revenue does not lie anon. Genshin is firstly a Zelda BotW clone but it worked in monetary sense. Also, as far as I understand AAA games are struggling in the recent years due to cost/revenue issue and almost every major title/IP is doing average games full of micro transactions, see FIFA or CoD as prime examples just to rake in money.
I am not saying that Genshin is good, it's gatcha part is predatory too but if you install it and play as a world exploring game you get an exceptional experience for free.
Of course you see the business tricks everywhere trying to make you swipe, but that's how gatchas are. You're either in or out, it's not like you go clubbing on saturday nights and complain about the loud music.
But then, you mentioned games/media that are not gatchas, it's comparing apples to bananas there. And I don't really think that Genshin DID NOT leave its mark in the gatcha genre. I do believe it already did and will remembered for years to come.
