i dont think they care.. im not sure if the 'elite' ever cared.. i think just having a larger footnote, even if it is controversial or perhaps even considered foolish/greedy/shortsighted is better than a smaller footnote that is highly respected and largely boring

both sides are exactly the same.. they care more about 'winning' and the other side 'losing' than about having earnest and honest politicians or what's best for america.
it's funny people think there is a 'shadow government' when they can fuck you right in the open and just say 'well what about the other guys?' and their base will just fall right in line every time.

the diehards and devotees on both sides are weak minded lemmings who don't even know why they believe what they believe.
they are the majority so through their consensus filter they feel justified and emboldened and in their mindless behavior. even alot of the influencers who think they have 'earnest beliefs' are just 85iq people who have a bit of charm. blind leading the blind.
this is why the proletariats will always lose in any and all struggles. they are too dumb to direct their own causes and too naive to not be taken advantage of... and no matter what you do you can't convince them of their own stupidity. so they live, breath and die in it.
