Haakon Lorentzen is the chairman of the Brazilian company Grupo Lorentzen, a holding company with investments in mining, healthcare, real estate, navigation, forests, industry, logistics, and information technology. He has also been a director of Aracruz Celulose SA, a Brazilian pulp and paper company. Haakon attended the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting of the New Champions at Dalian, China in 2015.

Haakon Lorentzen is the son of Princess Ragnhild Alexandra Lorentzen, and Erling Sven Lorentzen. He is thus a descendant of both the elite shipping Lorentzen bloodline and the royal Glucksburg dynasty as well. He is also the eldest maternal grandson of King Olav V of Norway. Haakon’s was also the maternal grandson of Princess Märtha of Sweden, making him a descendant of the Swedish royal Bernadotte family.

His father, Erling Sven Lorentzen, was a Norwegian shipowner and industrialist. He founded the Brazilian company Aracruz Celulose in 1968. He is the paternal grandson of Øivind Lorentzen who was a partner in Lorentzen & Co, his family’s shipping company. Øivind was also the CEO of Den Norske Syd-Amerika Linje. As mentioned in a previous thread, Oivind Lorentzen III is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
