The technology was definitely tapped into. They didn't even try to port Doom 3 or Riddick to Gamecube or PS2 for example.

The only thing that would happen if Xbox kept living (instead of the PS2 which kept getting games), would be people questioning why they needed to upgrade to the 360 anyway.
