So the whole deka-trillion dollar exercise was completely unnecessary. If we had simply ignored it, we'd be in about the same place but with much less debt, more confidence in the medical system, and less children years behind on their education. That's even without getting into expansion of authoritarian power and the further merging of government and corporate control over individuals.
