Lewis, the demon Screwtape literally states a hatred for silence and "ordered" sound (Music, rhythm, etc.) but loved ceaseless, chaotic noise (Nails on a chalkboard, screams, banging). One of the many goals of hell and its demons is to fill every corner of it with endless noise just to further the torture of the damned.
