For a while, yes. I really think when they invented beer is when problems started to happen. They began sacrificing hundreds of dogs and shit to false gods. When they began worshipping false gods instead of principles. I don't think any civilization gets it right if they end up collapsing.
Getting it right is establishing a permanent Golden Age that's always evolving, more so than growing or spreading out. Egyptians were probably the closest to succeeding in this, for a time.
