the way i see it, israel bought 4chan from moot and set up a japanese man as the titular owner for the sake of the optics for its anime-obsessed user base
now israel uses it to:
a. harvest data
b. breed anger and discontent in western nations, who divided against themselves find it harder and harder to resist their influence
c. channel radical into neutered honeypot discords and other online discords
other countries participate, including russia, china, india, and the us themselves
as someone who has been here for ~15 years, /pol/ has become a seething morass of snakes, it is still one of the few places you can find people actually speaking their minds, but its becoming harder and harder to find the good information, and the amount of shit you have to wade through and let into your brain to get a nugget of valuable truth is getting worse by the year
