I've been thinking for a while but does it feel like chinese writers seem to prefer this British industrial revolution-like period more or something? Any reason for that?
Japan has a knack for medieval fantasy, which before the isekai fad spread it was more of escapism to their older games like Dragon Quest.
Koreans seem to be divided between the medieval fantasy and the towers into our world, more MMO-like.
Chinese isekai ones are, well, ancient China-like for all the autistical cultivation and a more modern period from the little I saw so far.
