thats just a polite way of saying freemason. There's no reason why someones practice can't incorporate aspects of those religions even if the exoteric aspects reject the esoteric ones. In fact I'd argue this dual nature is extremely fertile ground for creation.
On a similar token not having this kind of neurotic hangup is partially why the Japanese have made some of the best Christian/Gnostic inspired works in media because of their apathy towards Christianity/Judaism to an extent that borders on outright appropriation
You seem really hung up on the idea of antagonistic expatriation from ones cultural framework which is not necessary and I would say is even harmful (i.e. look at Maoist China)
