sorry anon, sounds like there was a miscommunication, and we agree more than you think! what i listed are situations where i would miss having alcohol. by calling you “impressive” for not drinking, be assured that i accept your choices and am not trying to pressure you to drink. alcohol is never required (maybe i shouldn’t assume that’s a given?), most certainly not to the point of getting drunk, but that’s why i say it’s best when you don’t need it (because then it’s something that can enhance good experiences) and worst when you do (because then it’s self medication to dull bad experiences). i wish you the best with your stress and depression. in my experience, they’re not something that can be cured (by medication or otherwise), but something that you can learn to mitigate better over time by recognizing your negative thought patterns earlier and earlier on for what they are. anyway, good luck!
