We still have a ton of patriots in the south (Tennessee). We start celebrating the 4th in late June, when firework stands open up, and celebrate passed the 4th of July, until we run low on fireworks. You never shoot all of your fireworks in case a war pops off, and you need to convert them into real artillery.
