What exactly was the political system of the Saiyans? I’m a bit confused by the term, but it seems like the Saiyans started out as some form of communists. They overthrew the Tuffles and took over the planet, but after that, we skip straight to King Vegeta’s rule. By then, it looks like they’re living under some kind of capitalist regime possibly established by King Cold and later maintained by Frieza, making a more authoritarian capitalism. Saiyan society is now clearly divided by class: low-class warriors are basically cannon fodder, sent to conquer planets, while a few are promoted to mid-class. It also seems like they’re paying taxes to King Vegeta. But since he’s a king, does that make it some kind of imperial capitalism too? Is that even possible? One thing’s for sure, the Universe 6 Saiyans seem far more communist in structure. So what was Toriyama trying to say with this? Was it just another “capitalism bad” take?
