the mindset that prevails is that of the Daily Show (and later Colbert Report) from 2003-2009. Anything after that is ignored and considered inconsequential to public opinion. As well as the idea that only if the boomers were dead, then dems would never lose another election (which is incredibly naive with all of the polling data and voting trends in the last few years. And of course, that circles back to them ignoring public opinion after 2009)
