how can i avoid getting my ass sued if i wanna make a vidya game about guns? the thing being that i want the guns to be real, i.e. not realistic, but i want a G3 to be G3 and not "battle rifle type 3" or something.

I understand that H&K MP5 is a trademark and so i technically can't use it. However, do all these video games and books and manga and anime just pay for trademarks? I can't imagine the author of Upotte just pays like 15 differen't companies just to use real gun names, and he's super anal about realism so there's absolutely no mistake that this ak looking weapon is actually a amd-65. How does everyone do it?
