They were not Han Chinese. You are a product of many many different ethnicities and cultures who conquered and raped and pillaged China over its entire history. The 'chinese culture' you have today is basically an amalgamation of all of their cultures that you guys had forced onto you. Don't call it 'chinese'.
Its as disingenuous as if some Polish guy were to state that all German culture is Polish because Poland now controls land that was once Germany's and were also invaded by Germans. Things don't work that way.
