I tried showing the volume with hatching, but as that other anon said, I'm not good enough, so it clashed too hard with the shading and it ended up looking like body hair.

Then I tried using a different approach, that kind of worked, but was taking too long, and I want to finish this piece tomorrow, so I'll stick with lines instead.
