I've hung on both /v/'s touhou threads and /jp/ over the years and I'd definitely say /jp/ retained a higher quality over time, even if it means that some threads are ecchi imagedumps, since there's more that happens, like...
lore talk or talking about the character itself
occasionally a drawfag visits or dedicates themselves to the character
manga threads (they've been pretty funny recently with the grimsokyo meltdown)
actually participating in otaku events or at least talking about them
OC threads actually producing a fair share of OC (a bit of which isn't just reposted from /v/)
gameplay thread
other otakucore franchises i guess
bad/okay at best stuff (generals, pointless imagedumping, generic fetish threads)
horrible shit (vtumors)
Meanwhile /v/ has slowly degraded from being a hodgepodge of /jp/'s touhou discussion since circa 2022 into being a general where you spam catchphrases about some nebulous thread celebrity which I don't even recall existing or at least posting actively since years back. It shoots up quality a little during game releases and then dips back down immediately.
It's not like nobody's having "fun" in the threads but the discussion isn't interesting especially since it's so disconnected from the actual subject, so I've slowly stopped lurking. I've kind of realized over time that a lot of quality posters from those threads are just crossposters from /jp/.
